Hullabaloo Artist Profile: Johnny D. Trinh

Back again to host the spectacular word circus that is the Hullabaloo All Star Slam is Johnny D. Trinh.  Johnny will also be part of our Adventures in Poetry-land series on Saturday April 18th helping youth poets find new ways to express and explore identity with authenticity and empathy.  The All Star Slam will be happening on Thursday April 16th at 10 AM and 12:30 PM.  tickets can be bought at hullabaloo@vancouverpoetryhouse.com

These events will be taking place on the unceded, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

Johnny David Trinh is an award winning, community-engaged, multi-disciplinary artist. Johnny’s primary practice is in spoken word poetry and storytelling. Trained as a theatre maker, writer, and musician, Johnny’s work explores culture, resistance, and seeks compassion despite conflict. Johnny has little interest in small talk, but a penchant for salty banter. Johnny is most interested in the work that happens after the poetry, the listening after the storytelling, the change after the catalyst. Johnny acknowledges that we live, work, and play on the unceded traditional and ancestral homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
